Virginia Electronic Components (VEC, LLC) acquires Morris Automation Group

VEC Supply, a leading distributor of electronic components and services, serving the datacom, industrial automation, security, access control, and OEM markets, today announced the acquisition of industrial automation specialist Morris Automation Group, of Roanoke, Va. Under the terms of the agreement, Morris Automation will operate as a stand-alone division of VEC and will continue to support the industrial automation marketplace. “We believe this is an excellent add-on to the VEC business bringing us some new world-class product lines and a strong customer base of industrial accounts”, stated Frank Stalzer, President of VEC. “Our goal is to continue to build our business organically and through acquisitions and this latest move brings our number of branch locations to four.” VEC is headquartered in Charlottesville, Va. and maintains stocking sales branches in Lynchburg, Va.,Roanoke, Va., as well as Raleigh, NC. In addition, VEC maintains an on-line distribution business operating under the banner DirectDatacom.

Frank Stalzer appointed President of VEC Supply

VEC Supply, a leading distributor of electronic components and services, serving the voice and data, telecom, security, access control, factory automation and OEM markets, today announced the appointment of Frank Stalzer to the position of President, effective January 1, 2012. VEC’s current President, Ed Stalzer, a second cousin to Frank, will remain with the company through the end of 2011 and help insure a smooth transition. Thereafter, he will carry the title of President Emeritus, and will serve in an advisory capacity through 2012.
Frank Stalzer comes to VEC with over 30 years of distribution experience in the electronics industry and has held executive level positions at Arrow Electronics, Richey Electronics and Peerless Electronics. Most recently, Mr. Stalzer was President & CEO of Astrex Electronics, a distributor of electronic interconnect products serving the industrial and military market places. A native of Long Island, NY, Mr. Stalzer has recently relocated with his family to Charlottesville, Va to assume this new role. A 1980 graduate of New York Institute of Technology with a B.S. degree, Stalzer also attended the Harvard Business School’s General Management Program in 2001.

The VEC team has built a very successful company over the past few years and we are well positioned to take our company to the next level”, said Frank Stalzer.
